Energy Audits

ASHRAE Level Audits are building energy audits conducted in accordance with the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration, and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE). These audits are conducted to help identify energy saving opportunities and improve the overall performance of a building. During an ASHRAE Level Audit, a certified auditor will inspect and evaluate the building’s mechanical systems, insulation levels, and other energy related components. Based on the findings, the auditor will provide recommendations on ways to improve the building’s energy efficiency and reduce energy costs.

Types of Energy Audits

The three types of energy audits are the walkthrough energy audit, the diagnostic energy audit, and the comprehensive energy audit. A walkthrough energy audit is the most basic form of energy audit and involves identifying energy inefficiencies and making recommendations for improvement. A diagnostic energy audit is more detailed and involves collecting data to better understand energy usage and determine possible solutions. A comprehensive energy audit is the most comprehensive type of energy audit and involves conducting detailed tests and analysis to identify energy savings opportunities.

An ASHRAE Level I Audit is the most basic type of building energy audit. During this type of audit, the auditor will inspect and evaluate the building’s mechanical systems, insulation levels, and other energy related components. The auditor will then provide recommendations on ways to improve the building’s energy efficiency and reduce energy costs.

This type of audit is typically used as a first step in identifying energy saving opportunities and is most suitable for buildings that have not been recently renovated.

An ASHRAE Level II Audit is a more detailed building energy audit than the ASHRAE Level 1 Audit. This type of audit involves collecting data to better understand the building’s energy usage and identify potential energy-saving opportunities. This type of audit is suitable for buildings that have already undergone energy efficiency improvements or have been recently renovated.

During an ASHRAE Level II Audit, the auditor will inspect and evaluate the building’s mechanical systems, insulation levels, and other energy related components.

An ASHRAE Level III Audit is the most comprehensive type of building energy audit. During this type of audit, the auditor will conduct detailed tests and analysis to identify capital-intensive energy savings opportunities. This type of audit is typically used for buildings that have already undergone extensive energy efficiency improvements or have been recently renovated.

During an ASHRAE Level III Audit, the auditor will inspect and evaluate the building’s mechanical systems, insulation levels, and other energy related components, and will provide recommendations on ways to further improve the building’s energy efficiency and reduce energy costs.
