Building Resiliency

Building resiliency is the ability of a building to withstand and recover from natural disasters, such as floods, hurricanes, earthquakes, and extreme weather events. Building resiliency involves designing structures to be more resistant to natural disasters, as well as implementing measures to reduce the impacts of disasters and ensure a building can return to normal operations as quickly as possible. Resiliency measures include strengthening building foundations and frames, waterproofing, installing redundant systems and emergency backup power, and preparing emergency plans.
